Through doing this project I have learned new things, the main thing being that even though music videos seem easy and fun to make there is actually a lot behind the scenes jobs that take time, preparation and creativity. During the preparation we had a vision and soon worked out what types of props, settings and costumes would be required.
The first lot of footage was captured without many problems. The problem arose when the model was required for shooting, she was hard to get a hold of and half way through shooting she dyed her hair. Thankfully Emily was there.
Last year I used only the basic software for editing so when converting to using final cut the editing became harder. However after a couple times using it we were able to use effects and cut quicker. During this stage of the project we learnt how to use all different effects and find effects that we didn’t know existed. The biggest accomplishment in this stage though was the use of the green screen; we learnt what was needed to shoot the scene and then how to edit it. This is a rare effect to use at our age as people believe it will be a hard thing to do.
The ancillary tasks were hard for at the beginning as I had never used Photoshop before and so didn’t know how to use it. To overcome this problem I installed the programme onto my laptop at home and searched on the internet for tutorials and effects I could use. We used the usual conventions of an album by using the artist on the front cover. As a result I am happy with the finished product and believe that it reflects all the time and effort we put into it.
